What...too soon????
1) The Most Wonderful time of the Year - Nadja: I wonder if they have those Staples commercials in Montreal... 2) It's Almost Christmas - Elmo (Kevin Clash)/Cheryl Crow: Brings new meaning to the words "tickle-me-elmo" 3) Santa's Beard - They Might Be Giants: this Brooklyn based Duo used to perform on stage with a tape machine, a guitar and an accordion before taking on a full band 4) Winter Wonderland - Dick Leibert: Not a bad gig...playing the organ at Radio City Music Hall 5) Boogie Woogie Santa Claus - Patti Page: Certainly not the most recognized version but it really swings. 6) Holly Jolly Christmas - Sufjan Stevens: Saw a video once with this guy performing in a neon lighted jumpsuit. Think Elvis would have loved that... 7) River - Joni Mitchell: She once described this song as "the melancholy side of Christmas" (even though she never intended this to be a Christmas song) 8) Mele Kalikimaka - Bedroom Set w/Angelique Everett: Electro-lounge at its best 9) Christmas Island - Petty Booka: named for the 2 girls in this group (Petty and Booka) this ukulele duo has since had a new Booka (kinda like the dread pirate Roberts) 10) Red Suited Superman - Rod Stewart: he knows where his audience is. Ever since he released his American Songbook discs the average age of his fans has shot up to about 70. I guess at this stage in his career he's laughing all the way to the bank 11) WinterTime - The Belmonts: Fred Milano 1939-2012 12) Christmas Wish - NRBQ: Tom Ardolino (drums) 1955-2012 13) Joy to the World - Whitney Houston: 1963-2012 14) Christmas Must Be Tonight - The Band: Levon Helm 1940-2012 15) Christmas is Here - Donna Summer: 1948-2012 16) Come Home for Christmas - The Platters: Herb Reed 1928-2012 17) Bless Us All - Tiny Tim (Jerry Nelson)/Kermit (Steve Whitmire)/Miss Piggy (Frank Oz): Jerry Nelson 1934-2012 18) Turkey Lurkey Time - Kerry O'Malley/Christine Baraski: Hal David 1921-2012 19) Santa Claus Inc. - Dick Clark: 1929-2012 20) I Saw Three Ships - The Chieftans/Marianne Faithfull: Martin Fey (fiddle) 1936-2012 21) She's Right on Time - Billy Joel: He once praised this album as "the best music he ever wrote and produced". While technically not a Holiday tune it has a great message. Dedicated to that one who you can't be without and can't wait to see. 22) Good King Wenceslas - Jay Atwood: we go techno 23) Jingle Bells - Crash Test Dummies: boy I'd hate to be on that sleigh 24) If It Doesn't Snow on Christmas - Joe Pesci: Is Santa here to amuse you...like a clown???
